The charm and glamour of the summer open air cinemas make the whole process feels like watching a movie in the… magical countryside. An atmosphere unique and special, fortunately for those who live in Athens, summer cinemas are still here under the athenian stars.
1. Ciné Paris – for the romantic ones

2. Cine Thisio – for the classic lovers
Some years ago CNN declared “Cine Thissio” as the best cinema in the world and not unfairly. Athen’s oldest summer cinema, located under the Acropolis on Apostolou Pavlou Street, was built in 1935, and has since been a point of attraction for lovers of the seventh art. Overlooking the Parthenon, “Cine Thiseio” is usually open from April to October with both new films and older classical creations.
3. Cine Dexameni – for the urban lovers
“Dexameni”, means “Tank” is located in Kolonaki area. Consistent with its appointment and renewed, “Dexameni” is now among the most “in” points of meeting and continues to exite cinema lovers and not only.
4. Cine Aegli – for the social lovers
The bougainvillea and jasmine, the glow worms, the canvas chairs, the starry sky and the pleasant chill that prompts you to put on your scarf are all “rituals” of the open-air cinema; for many even more important than a very good movie itself. Set in a luscious green garden with great acoustics and first-rate service for the habitués, and combined with tasty hand-made snacks, the historic cine Aegli is the place that assembles all the characteristics of the “open-air cinema”.
5. Greek Film Archive – for the culture lovers
The Greek Film Archive springs from the activity of the Athens Cinema Association that was established in 1950. From its establishment the Greek Film Archive organized popular daily screenings that introduced entire generations of moviegoers to the art of cinema. In 2009, the Greek Film Archive moved to the new “Laϊs” building, located at the junction of Iera Odos and Megalou Alexandrou Street in Kerameikos district.
6. Cine Zefiros – for the retro lovers
